Peter A. Umoff obtained his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas. He started his legal career in Los Angeles in 1979 and moved to Santa Barbara in 1984. He was a partner in one of the largest law firms in Santa Barbara before becoming in-house counsel and vice president of one of Santa Barbara’s largest employers. Mr. Umoff joined Seed Mackall as a partner in 1992 to create and manage the firm’s litigation department, of which he is still chairman. 

     He has an extensive background in business and real estate litigation and transactional work and has represented a wide variety of businesses in various fields, including telecommunications, development and construction, restaurant and resort development and management, banking and trust services, publishing, investment, and retail. Mr. Umoff provides not only litigation services to the firm’s clients, he serves as business advisor to a large number of clients who rely on his business background and acumen as well as his litigation experience to help them avoid litigation or enhance their litigation position through pre-litigation planning. Mr. Umoff also heads up the firm’s employment practice area where he again brings both his business and his litigation experience and skills to bear for the benefit of the firm’s clients.
