Barton E. Clemens, Jr. graduated magna cum laude from the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he was admitted to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1978, where he received the Distinguished Advocate Award from the Moot Court Honors Program. Mr. Clemens joined Seed Mackall LLP as a partner in 1996.
Mr. Clemens’ practice emphasizes real estate, financial and business transactions. He represents a variety of companies involved in real estate acquisition, ownership, financing and development. He also represents institutional and private lenders and has substantial experience in structuring financial transactions and handling workouts of troubled loans.
Mr. Clemens’ approach to real estate and financial transactions is very practical and bottom line oriented. A large number of his clients ask him to function like a principal in their business, negotiating deal points and making cost/benefit analyses. With 40 years of experience in the real estate and financial markets in Santa Barbara, he brings considerable background knowledge and expertise to the transactions in which he is involved.
